Shorts

The next screening is 8.30pm Tuesday 10th November 2009.

The theme for this screening is ‘Common Ground’, and is in association with AURORA.  This is the festival’s theme:

“Exploring the multiple possible readings of the theme Common Ground, the festival this year strays from anthropology and ethnographic studies to explorations of myth, ritual, and the representation of reality, via social history and folklore—and into questions of ecology and the natural world, coloured by the history of social activism and direct action.”

We will be screening 12 films from around the country. Please see the Norwich Arts Centre website for details.

ABOUT SHORTS:

Shorts is a film night run by volunteers. We accept submissions of moving image work (narrative films, animations, documentaries, artists’ films) to screen in the informal setting of the Norwich Arts Centre bar. The event operates as an opportunity for film makers to meet each other and to screen their work in public. The submission criteria is as follows:

Data file (Mac compatible, eg mov) so we can make a showreel

OR playable DVD format (one film per DVD, no complicated menus)

Under 20 minutes long

Cleared copyright for ALL images and soundtracks used (this includes any images downloaded from the internet and incorporated into your film). Please provide a letter from the copyright holder if you are using other artists’ images or sounds. There is an audience entry fee for the Shorts nights, so some granted permissions may become invalid.

No illegal material (we don’t want to get in trouble!)

For more information please email shortsfilms@live.com. Please post DVDs to: Shorts, Norwich Arts Centre, St Benedicts Street, Norwich NR2 4PG.

Please include your email address, and a line or two about the work to go in the programme. Enclose a SAE if you would like your film returned after the screening. Unfortunately due to the time limits we cannot show every film submitted, but we try our best to screen as many as we can.
